A mock drill was conducted in the premises of Azamgarh Public School under the Social Science Department, led by Neeraj Dubey, an officer from the Fire Department.The Chief Fire Officer of Azamgarh informed students that there are four types of fire – ordinary fire, chemical fire, gas fire, and electric fire. Each type requires a different method to extinguish. He explained that fire needs oxygen to burn, so the supply of oxygen should be cut off to stop the fire. Ordinary fires can be put out using water, sand, soil, or by beating with sticks. But if the fire is due to electricity, it should not be put out with water; instead, the main switch should be turned off.
The fire team members first set fire to a pile of papers and then extinguished it using carbon dioxide. In the second stage, they showed how to put out a fire caused by gas from a cylinder by covering it with a bucket. They also explained that if fire starts in a pipe, the regulator should be turned off. For large fires, they demonstrated using a strong water jet from a fire hydrant through a hydrant hose.After that, students were called to practice all the methods themselves. They participated enthusiastically and learned how to extinguish fires.The fire safety training program was conducted under the supervision of the school principal Rupal Pandya and vice principal Runa Khan.
On this occasion, department head Tahseen Fatema, P.T. teacher Mohammad Zahid Khan, S.P. Mishra, Vinay Singh, and Scout Guide in-charge Mohammad Shahid were also present.
